Date: Friday 2nd December 2022
Organised in partnership with the Social History Curators Group and Religion, Collections & Heritage Group, this seminar is for anyone who is:
- interested in working with religious groups in their communities – or already finds themselves doing so – and is unsure how to proceed,
- responsible for historical collections of any period and wishes to explore their explicit and often implicit religious meanings,
- interested in collecting contemporary religion, as part of a wider collecting initiative.
Religion is an important feature of multi-cultural societies, and a protected characteristic under the 2011 Equalities Act which museums have an obligation to address. No prior knowledge is required, and there will be plenty of time to ask questions during the sessions and at the Q&A.
