Inspiring more impactful educational offers to schools
This three part course, led by Rebecca Bell, Director of Integrate Education, aims to train and support staff in the process of planning and delivering highly interactive, creative learning experiences in their setting, using a ‘Narrative Immersion’ approach.
Places are limited and museums must commit to attending all three sessions when enrolling on the programme.
**Priority will be given to delegates from Accredited museums and those officially Working Towards Accreditation and to non-NPO museums.
What is Narrative Immersion?
A Narrative Immersion learning adventure involves enquiry-led learning, investigation, problem solving, collaboration and active engagement with new knowledge and understanding.
During a Narrative Immersion the learners’ step into the world of a story. The story provides a purposeful, creative and imaginative context for learning. Within story world they face problems and challenges that need to be solved on behalf of the characters that they meet. This interactive learning adventure is exciting and memorable and can inspire meaningful learning beyond the visit to the museum.
Any museum can become an inspiring location and context for such a creative learning adventure that would enrich the National Curriculum. Narrative immersions can open up the historical, scientific, artistic or cultural focus of the exhibits and bring them to life.

9 April 2019 – Session 3: How to Plan a Narrative Immersion
10am-4pm, The Hive at New Standard Works, 43-47 Vittoria Street, Birmingham B1 3PE
Following on from Session 2: Learning through Drama – The Narrative Immersion approach, in this final session you will collaborate in a Narrative Immersion planning process and work as a team to shape a workshop experience. The focus of this session is to prepare you for the bespoke planning of a Narrative Immersion for your museum.
Lunch and refreshments will be provided at all three free events.
