Lunchtime Learning with Roots HR

Roots HR CIC will lead a series of short bite-size sessions outlining essential knowledge for anyone managing volunteers in 2021. Each session will provide a presentation of key information followed by a short Q&A. The sessions will reflect ‘normal’ conditions, alongside additional considerations we may need to make during the current pandemic.

This training is suitable for those who may be new to managing volunteers, or experienced delegates hoping to refresh their knowledge. Delegates may book for one, two or all three sessions.

Managing Volunteers

3 February, 1pm-1.45pm

After the session you will:

  • Have an awareness of the legal framework of engaging and managing volunteers
  • Understand the museum’s responsibility and obligations in terms of contracting, health & safety, payment and expenses
  • Have an awareness of how to manage museum and volunteer expectations
  • Better understand additional factors to consider in the time of Covid-19

Recruiting Volunteers

10 February, 1pm-1.45pm

After the session you will:

  • Have an awareness of the legal framework of recruiting volunteers
  • Understand different ways to attract volunteers to your museum
  • Have an awareness of the practical steps you could take to select the best volunteers for your museum
  • Better understand recruiting and selecting volunteers in the time of Covid-19

Retaining Volunteers

17 February, 1pm-1.45pm

After the session you will:

  • Have an awareness of the psychological contract and how that applies to volunteers
  • Understanding what may motivate and engage volunteers at your museum
  • Practical steps you could take to engage volunteers
  • Better understand considerations of retention and of volunteers returning to the museum following the Covid-19 pandemic

Priority will be given to delegates from non-NPO and non-National museums in the West Midlands which are Accredited or officially Working Towards Accreditation.

The webinar will be live captioned by MyClearText, through StageText.

All participants will receive a Zoom link to the training prior to the event. This will be emailed to the address given in your booking.
