Shropshire Museums have recently achieved success in their application for 2023-26 Arts Council England (ACE) Investment Programmes for National Portfolio Organisations (NPO). This endorsement from ACE will enable Shropshire Museums will make a step change in providing a more inclusive children and young people’s cultural offer and will embed community engagement within their flagship British Museum partnership project. Linking communities, stories and experiences via the fascinating collections and spaces in their care are the guiding principles upon which the service sits. They have a responsibility to promote the beautiful and surprising objects which make up Shropshire Museums’ collections but can only do this if the collections are well organised and accessible, able to support our values and to tell the stories of the county. The post holder will support the Curators and Engagement Officers, motivating teams of volunteers, identifying their skills, and monitoring their performance. Working closely with teams across Shropshire Museums & Archives the post-holder will help the team to create exceptional customer experiences.
About You
You will be a graduate in a relevant discipline or have experience of working in a similar role. Shropshire Museums are looking for a team player with a passion and enthusiasm for linking communities with collections who will be able to demonstrate an access driven approach to opening up collections to a wider range of audiences. The ideal candidate will have the ability to combine methodical working practices with excellent communication skills and will be an enthusiastic advocate for the collections and spaces cared for by Shropshire Museums.
